The Belfry Hotel and Resort signs up to Hoteliers' Charter

13 January 2023 by

The Belfry Hotel & Resort in North Warwickshire has signed up to the Hoteliers' Charter as part of its commitment to provide an equal and diverse workplace.

This will see the 319-bedroom hotel working towards 10 goals, including the eradication of low pay; championing the government's pledge to be carbon neutral by 2050; and mentoring employees.

Chris Eigelaar, resort director at the Belfry Hotel & Resort, said: "As a major employer in the Midlands, we are acutely aware of the ongoing recruitment and retention challenges faced by our industry.

"These issues were exacerbated during the pandemic and because of post-Brexit and to overcome these issues and ensure we have a robust and motivated workforce, it's crucial that we showcase how the industry can offer a hugely rewarding, varied and long-term career. By signing the Hoteliers' Charter, we are demonstrating our long-term commitment not only to support and grow our current team, but also to work with the wider industry to the benefit of all."

Sally Beck, 2019 Hotelier of the Year and general manager of Royal Lancaster London, first launched the Charter in February 2021 to raise the profile of the hospitality industry and promote the sector as a profession of choice.

More than 500 UK hotels, including Home Grown Hotels, Northcote, IHG Hotels & Resorts and Iconic Luxury Hotels, signed the Hoteliers' Charter last January.
