Belmond names new executive vice-president
Philippe Cassis has been appointed executive vice-president and chief operating officer at luxury hotel, river cruise and train operator Belmond.
Cassis has 30 years' experience in the luxury travel industry. His most recent role was as chief executive at Sun Resorts, where he oversaw the growth of the company's portfolio of destination resorts. Prior to that, he spent 28 years with Starwood Hotels & Resorts, latterly as senior vice-president operations & global initiatives Latin America.
He joins Belmond at a point of growth. The company is poised to launch the Belmond Grand Hibernian, which will be the first luxury touring train in Ireland. It is also set to open first London hotel, Belmond Cadogan hotel in Knightsbridge, following a substantial refurbishment, in early 2017.
President and chief executive John Scott said: "He will add deep operational strength to our senior management team and will be invaluable to our near-term business execution and future growth."
The company's 46-strong hotel portfolio includes the Belmond Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons in Oxfordshire and Belmond Cipriani in Venice.
Cassis will be based at Belmond's head office in London.
