Best Western Hotels & Resorts has acquired the upper upscale and luxury hotel marketing consortium WorldHotels.
The acquisition adds 300 independent properties to Best Western's portfolio, including the Washington Mayfair hotel, the Caesar hotel, the Royal Garden hotel, the Courthouse hotel and the Courthouse Hotel Shoreditch, all in London.
The acquisition was completed last week and is described as playing "a critical role" in enhancing Best Western's portfolio in the upper upscale and luxury segments. Best Western has more than 260 member hotels in the UK.
WorldHotels will continue as an independent identity with Geoff Andrew as chief executive, and member hotels will have access to Best Western's loyalty programme, sales and marketing support, global distribution network and revenue engines.
Andrew said: "Best Western is one of the largest, most respected and trusted hotel brands. As we join forces, the combined power of our brands sets the stage for a bright future for both Best Western and WorldHotels. Through its established senior leadership team and regional presence in each market, Best Western brings a new level of expertise that will undoubtedly help grow the WorldHotels brand in key markets."
David Kong, president and chief executive of Best Western Hotels & Resorts, said: "There is tremendous synergy between Best Western and WorldHotels. By joining forces in this new partnership, we will create competitive advantages for both companies.Get The Caterer every week on your smartphone, tablet, or even in good old-fashioned hard copy (or all three!).
