Best Western aims to have electric car charging stations at 135 hotels by September

Best Western is expected to become the first nationwide collection of hotels to offer a network of electric car charging stations across its portfolio of properties.

The sales and marketing consortium will have charging stations installed at 50 of its hotels by the end of this month, with half of its 270 hotels offering the facility by September.

Both hotel guests and restaurant clients who have eco-friendly electric vehicles will be able to charge up their car batteries at no cost.

Best Western, which has been supported by the green charity Zero Carbon World (ZCW) in the initiative, has responded to the growing demand for electricity to power cars.

Angela Burns, the company's chairman , a longstanding and enthusiastic electric car driver, said that she believes the company is the first hotel group in the world to offer electric charging stations on such a large scale.

"What we are seeing now is very much the first wave of a movement which is set to become huge over the next decade. As a company that is forward thinking it is only right that Best Western is at the forefront of this advance towards greener transport."

Charles Roberts, spokesman for ZCW, said: "Best Western's initiative is a massive thumbs up for electric cars. No other hotel brand has such an extensive network or is investing in electric vehicles to the same extent as Best Western."" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer">Montpelier Chapter hotel to transport guests in electric car >>](
