Bloomsbury hotel launches literary-inspired Club Bar
The Bloomsbury hotel will mark a new chapter next month with the opening of the Bloomsbury Club Bar, touting literary-inspired cocktails and light food in a "moody, seductive and atmospheric" setting.
Bar manager Brian Calleja, formerly of Les Deux Salons, Threadneedle hotel and L'Atelier de Joel Robuchon, will oversee a menu of classic cocktails and new creations taking their names from the literary giants of the early 20th century.
The Virginia Woolf, for example, is a tart and fruity mix of gin and raspberry shrub, while sister Vanessa Bell is represented by Beefeater, Cochi Americano and elderflower. Meanwhile, the late Queen Mother's favourite tipple, gin and milk, also makes the cut.
Various twists on club sandwiches and classic bites make up the food menu, which can be picked over on the outside terrace, or inside while listening to live music, with plenty of jazz, Wednesday to Saturday from 7pm.
