Bredbury Hall appoints new team following refurbishment

Bredbury Hall hotel & country club in Stockport, Greater Manchester, has appointed a new management team following the completion of the first phase of renovations.

The three-AA-star, 147-bedroom property will be led by general manager Mark McMenamy. He joins the hotel with more than 20 years' experience in the hospitality industry, having previously worked for Whitbread, where he specialised in refurbishments and new openings.

Meanwhile Paul Whitfield has been appointed as head chef from Park Hall hotel near Preston. He has developed a new range of menus focusing on modern British cooking using locally sourced produce.

Renovation work has included a new open plan lounge area for meetings and social events and a Brasserie Bar offering all-day dining. Bredbury Hall's nightclub has also been transformed into a Moroccan-themed cocktail bar with a new VIP lounge.

The second phase of renovations will start in January 2016 and will include an overhaul of the main restaurant and all hotel bedrooms.

Changes have come about after Bredbury Hall was purchased out of administration in June by Newco Ventures, owned by Golam Sarwar, a businessman from Bangladesh who intends to build a chain of hotels in the UK. Hotel management company Onecall Hospitality has been appointed on a three-year rolling contract to operate the hotel.

Mark Chambers of Onecall Hospitality, acting management specialist for Bredbury Hall, said: "Bredbury Hall is one of the North West's best known venues and is now beginning a new chapter in its history. With its strategic location on the motorway network close to the airport, it will continue to attract a national and international clientele. However, we also want it to be at the heart of the community, as a meeting place for local people and a leading venue for business events."
