Brighton's Waterfront hotel to be rebranded as Jurys Inn

Amaris Hospitality, owner of both Jurys Inn and the Hotel Collection, will invest £5.6m in refurbishing the hotel, which will be relaunched as Jurys Inn Brighton Waterfront.

It will become the second Jurys Inn in Brighton, joining the existing Jurys Inn Brighton, which will also receive an investment of £1.9m. The transformation of both properties - led by Simon Quarrell, general manger, the Waterfront hotel, and Damien Doyle, general manager, Jurys Inn Brighton - is expected to be completed by the end of 2016.

In October, Amaris Hospitality, a portfolio of nearly 90 hotels created by American private equity group Lone Star, announced that it was to spend £100m on rebranding 21 properties within the Hotel Collection, including the addition of eight hotels to the Jurys Inn chain. Eleven hotels have also been earmarked to be converted to the Mercure brand and three to Hilton Worldwide brands.

The rebranding of the Waterfront hotel will take the Jurys Inn group up to 37 properties.

John Brennan, chief executive of Amaris Hospitality, said he was delighted to be adding "such a high performing hotel" to the Jurys Inn brand. "This initiative will see the hotel leverage its prime location, next to Brighton's famous pier, with a significant investment programme to further enhance its exceptional customer service and business performance," he said.

Yesterday, the Hotel Collection announced the sale of the iconic four-AA-star, 89-bedroom Marine hotel overlooking the Royal Troon golf course in Ayrshire, on the west coast of Scotland, off a guide price of £7m.

The rapidly shrinking Hotel Collection now numbers 12 properties, including the Imperial hotel, Torquay; Lygon Arms, Broadway; and the Majestic hotel, Harrogate. It is expected that Lone Star will eventually sell the remaining hotels.
