Britannia Hotels buys fifth property in Bournemouth

Britannia Hotels has acquired the 145-bedroom Carrington House hotel in Bournemouth from Forestdale Hotels, for a guide price of £3m.

The privately owned hotel group, headed by Alex Langsam, now has 45 properties across the UK. It also owns Pontins after buying the chain of holiday camps out of administration in 2011.

With the acquisition of Carrington House, Britannia Hotels now operates five properties in Bournemouth alongside the Britannia, Heathlands, Roundhouse and Royal Bath hotels.

Forestdale is a collection of 17 hotels, which is part of the Akkeron Group of Hotels, which decided to sell Carrington House to concentrate on operating its remaining portfolio.

The sale was negotiated by Christie + Co.
