Careys Manor employee features in Britain's Best Older Workers list

Anna White, aged 77, who features in the top 10 of the list, has been working at the New Forest hotel for 45 years.

The 50 over 50 feature was published in People Management, the official magazine of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD), following hundreds of public nominations.

It features a variety of professions and aims to recognise the value and contribution of an age-diverse workforce to the British economy.

Anna White, chef de rang at Cambium at Careys Manor hotel, said she was "truly delighted" to make the list "let alone feature in the top 10 alongside people such as Professor Stephen Hawking and Lord Browne.

"In my time at Careys Manor hotel I've been lucky enough to make some lasting friendships both in terms of my ever-supportive colleagues and with so many of our wonderful regular customers here at the hotel.

"Having now spent 45 years here, I couldn't imagine life without Careys Manor in one way or another and hope that I have many more years of service left in me yet."

White was born in a small town in Italy and moved to Hampshire in 1957. She started her career at the hotel after a next door neighbour, a sommelier at Careys, asked if she would consider a part-time waitress position. She combines her working life with caring for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

James Hiley-Jones, group operations director at Greenclose Hotels, the owner of Careys Manor, added: "Anna has been a truly outstanding member of the Careys Manor hotel team for well over four decades.

"Her unsurpassed dedication, her exceptional personality and her commitment to only the highest levels of customer service has supported her in becoming our longest standing member of staff. To be recognised in such a prestigious way, amongst some celebrated personalities and true icons of the business and scientific world in People Management's 50-over-50 employees is an inspiration to us all."

He added: "I sincerely believe that Anna is the cornerstone of the Careys Manor family and I hope that she is able to enjoy many more years with us yet."
