Carl Leaver says goodbye to De Vere hotels

Carl Leaver, chief executive of De Vere hotels, left the company on Friday, Caterer can reveal.

Leaver said the move had been under discussion since the company was sold to Alternative Hotels Group (AHG) last month.

Leaver said: "AHG came with its own team, expertise and ideas and it seemed like the right time to leave."

"I'm happy with the price we got for De Vere, that the business is in good shape and that AHG were the buyers. They have expertise in the industry - particularly in venues - which will strengthen De Vere's business going forward."

De Vere shareholders agreed the company's sale to Alternative Hotel Group (AHG) for 875p per share in August. Itl completed on 5 September.

AHG, which also owns Verve Venues (previously Initial Style Conferences), was set up by the directors of Marylebone Warwick Balfour, which owns of the Malmaison and Hotel du Vin hotel hotel chains.
