Catey winner Barnard opens hotel near Goodwood

Catey winner David Barnard has launched a new venture in Sussex, opening the Fish House hotel and restaurant near Goodwood.

The former proprietor of the Crab and Lobster bistro and the Crab Manor hotel has spent £4m on converting an old pub into a 15-bedroom hotel and 40-seatrestaurant and bar.

Hotel facilities include a garden with secluded hot tubs, each set in a private pagoda, with flat-screen TV and Champagne fridge.

The Fish House restaurant is overseen by head chef Alan Gleeson and serves a fine dining menu with a focus on seafood.

Barnard, who picked up the 2001 Catey for independent marketing campaign, said: "The last eight months has not been without its share of challenges, though it has been thoroughly rewarding to witness the realisation of my vision for the Fish House."
