Cherish Finden leaves the Langham

Cherish Finden has left her role as executive pastry chef at the five-AA-starred the Langham in Marylebone, London.

Andrew Gravett will take on the role, starting 13 February.

Gravett has previously worked at top restaurants such as the Capital in London's Knightsbridge alongside Eric Chavot while it held two Michelin stars, finishing his tenure as executive pastry chef.

He then took on the role of development chef for chocolate manufacturer Valrhona, based in Tain-le-Hermitage, France. There he was responsible for recipe creation, training and brand development.

For the past two years, Gravett has worked as executive pastry chef for Belle Epoque in Islington.

It has not been confirmed where Finden will go next; however, a spokesperson at the Langham said: "She definitely wants some down time before her next move".

Singapore-born Finden started at the Langham in 2009. Over the years she has created cakes for celebrities such as Lady Gaga and served afternoon tea to BBC One's Great British Bake Off judges Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood. Last year, she was asked to design a cake for the Queen's 90th birthday.

In 2016 Finden was thrown in to the limelight when she became a judge on the BBC Two show Great British Bake Off: Crème de la Crème

In 2001, Finden won the Association of Pastry Chefs' Dessert of the Year competition. She was awarded the Tea Guild's Top London Afternoon Tea award in 2010 and claimed the title of Craft Guild of Chefs Pastry Chef of the Year in 2012 and in 2015.

Throughout her career, Finden has won 25 medals from a variety of international events. In 2000, she led the Singapore Pastry Team, which claimed first prize at the World Pastry Cup competition.
