Choice Hotels adds four hotels to its UK portfolio
Two properties in the Midland will join the group under the Quality brand - the Quality Hotel Wolverhampton, formerly the Connaught hotel, and the Quality Hotel Birmingham Airport/NEC, which is re-opening under the new ownership and management of Hospitality First.
Meanwhile two hotels have joined the Clarion brand - the Clarion Collection Makeney Hall Hotel in Belper, Derbyshire, and the Clarion Collection Hotel Winchester Royal. Both properties are part of the strategic agreement signed with Akkeron Hotels Group earlier this year, which has so far resulted in seven Akkeron hotels in joining Choice Hotels under franchise agreements.
In addition to these four hotels joining the Choice Hotels, the 60-bedroom Comfort Hotel St. Albans has become the four-star Clarion Collection Hotel St. Albans. The former Edwardian home of Samuel Ryder, founder of the Ryder Cup, has undergone an extensive refurbishment.
Choice Hotels Europe franchises nearly 500 hotels across Europe. The Clarion brand operates in the four-to-five star market, Quality is a three-star offering, while Comfort is a budget brand.
