Ciarán Fahy joins Spartan Advisors

Ciarán Fahy has been appointed head of hotels at Spartan Advisors, a Barclay family-owned company focused on investment opportunities in the luxury hotel sector.

Spartan was launched last year as a separate company to the Barclay brothers' Ellerman Hotel Company (EHC), which owns the five-red-AA-starred, 136-bedroom Ritz London and bought the five-AA-starred, 73-bedroom Beaumont hotel last year.

Former Ellerman Investments director Richard Faber founded Spartan after 18 years with Ellerman, and oversees the company as managing director. Fahy was formerly chief executive of EHC.

Spartan manages the Beaumont and advised on the Ritz London's refinancing last year. It also advises unconnected companies, such as City Developments in its relaunched takeover bid for Millennium & Copthorne Hotels last month.

Fahy said the Beaumont is "trading very well" and they look forward to "building on the success of the hotel" with plans to extend the hotel by 29 bedrooms awaiting approval.
