Couple carve out Lake District property

Kenn Elliot and Rowan Mahon have bought the Cedar Manor hotel in Windermere, Cumbria, for just less than £1m. The two-star, 14-bedroom property, which was built from locally quarried stone, has a self-contained two-bedroom apartment for the owners and a 30-seat restaurant that they plan to re-open. The new proprietors come from the Haweswater hotel in Penrith, Cumbria. The agent was Christie & Co.
