David Harris to head the new Langley hotel as hotel manager

The Langley, the new luxury hotel which is due to open in Iver, Buckinghamshire, at the end of the year, has appointed David Harris as hotel manager.

Harris has moved to the 41-bedroom property located within the former estate of the Duke of Marlborough from his previous role as operations manager at QHotels' Ashford International property in Kent. Owned by City & Country Hotels, a subsidiary of Arab Investments, the Langley will operate under Marriott's Luxury Collection brand.

Earlier in his Kent career, Harris worked at the Marquis at Alkham (his first general manager position) and as food and beverage manager at Eastwell Manor, Hotel & Spa, which has since been acquired by Champneys.

Harris' first priority in his new role at the Langley will be to oversee the completion of the restoration of the property which includes a Grade II*-listed mansion that was at one time the hunting lodge of the Duke of Marlborough and a Grade II-listed, 18th-century building that once housed stables and a brew house.

Harris, who takes part in extreme endurance races and triathlons in his spare time, described the Langley as "an incredible heritage project". He added: "The meticulous restoration and design process is testament to the scale and ambition we have for the hotel.

"The Langley will create an elegant destination for both locals and international guests alike, with something for everyone, from the world-class spa and Matt Roberts personal training facility, to its unsurpassable cigar collection and gourmet dining experiences."
