Dawnay in talks to buy Furlong Hotels
A report in today's Times has suggested that Dawnay Shore Hotels is in talks to buy the Furlong Hotels group for more than £50m.
The report states that Dawnay Day approached the company several weeks ago and it is believed that a deal is imminent.
Furlong's three-strong portfolio includes the 70-bedroom Lygon Arms country house hotel in the Cotswolds, which was bought from the Savoy group two years ago for about £15m.
Furlong also owns the 71-bedroom Billesly Manor hotel in Warwickshire and the 40-bedroom Combe Grove Manor property near Bath.
Both Furlong and Dawnay Shore Hotels refused to comment.
