Deborah Kemp, chief executive of De Vere Hotels & Resorts, is re-establishing the group as a separate business from De Vere Venues.
"During the recession the hotels and venues within De Vere were grouped together for marketing purposes, but now I've been brought in to reposition hotels as a division in its own right, with its own distinct brand proposition," said Kemp, who joined De Vere Hotels & Resorts in November 2009 from Punch Taverns, where she was managing director.
To this end, Kemp is building a new hotel management team and has appointed Sandy Masson from the Preferred Hotels Group as sales director, Kirstie Yates from Mitchells & Butlers as marketing director, Nick Gamble from sister company Village Hotels as operations director, and Jeremy Martin as revenue manager. They join Jo Monk, who has been human resources director for the last couple of years.
Owned by the Alternative Hotel Group - which also operates the Malmaison and Hotel du Vin brands - De Vere Hotels & Resorts currently has 13 four and five-star properties including Cameron House on Loch Lomond (the 2010 Cateys Group Hotel of the Year), as well as The Grand Hotel, Brighton, and Royal Bath, Bournemouth.
