Dhillon Hotels to put £50m into Birmingham's Paragon
Dhillon Hotels is planning a £50m refurbishment of the Paragon in Birmingham after it completed acquisition of the 250-bedroom hotel from Singapore-based Cockpit Hotels.
Working with Ilse Crawford from design consultancy StudioIlse and Tom Emmerson from architects 6a, the Dhillon Group plans to overhaul the bedrooms, restaurant and lounge bar. It also plans to create a members, club and spa within infrastructure of the building.
The Paragon is situated in Digbeth, an area more famously known as the "Irish quarter" of Birmingham.
Tej Dhillon, chairman of Dhillon Hotels, said: "We are thrilled to have added the Paragon to our portfolio.
"It is a beautiful building in an area of Birmingham full of potential likened to that of New York's Meat Packing district."
