Dolce Hotels and Resorts expands in Munich – and other international hotel news

Dolce Hotels and Resorts expands in Munich Dolce Hotels and Resorts has begun work on the latest addition to its global portfolio, the €50m (£40.3m) Dolce Munich in Munich, Germany. The hotel, situated in Unterschleißheim, is due to open in April 2010 next to Dolce's BallhausForum conference facility. The property will house 255 rooms, including 22 junior suites, three presidential suites with terraces, and the Executive Sky Lounge. Food and beverage outlets at the property will include buffet areas for conference guests, including an indoor garden and a restaurant. The development will also include a spa and wellness centre complete with lobby sports bar, swimming pool, four treatment rooms, sauna and steam bath.

Two Spanish hotels and golf resorts for sale Two hotel and golf resorts in Southern Spain - the Islantilla Golf Resort in Huelva and the Valle del Este Golf Resort in Almeria, are up for sale for a combined asking price of €50m (£40.3m). Islantilla Golf Resort, on the market for €28m (£22.2m), is a purpose-built resort with 204 bedrooms, overlooking the Costa de la Luz. The hotel's facilities include a golf course, beach club, conference and function rooms, restaurants, and a spa and leisure club. Valle del Este, on the market for €22m (£17.5m), was opened in 2004 and features a four-star hotel with 142 bedrooms, function rooms, swimming pools, restaurants and a spa. Property agent Christie & Co is handling the sale of the resorts, which are available individually or as a pair.

Rotana expands into Northern Iraq Hotel management company Rotana has announced plans to develop a new hotel in Northern Iraq. The hotel will be built in Erbil and is scheduled to open in 2009. Rotana currently has two hotels in Beirut; the Gefinor Rotana and the Hazmieh Rotana. Rotana is known for its flagship hotel and spa properties in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Fujairah and Sharm El Sheikh and has properties in some of the world's developing tourist destinations including Beirut, Syria and Kuwait. The group aims to expand throughout the Middle East, with 40 more properties opening throughout by 2012. Rotana will be moving into the new markets of Qatar, Bahrain, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Ras Al Khaimah and Oman, as well as opening additional hotels in Beirut, Khartoum, Syria, Abu Dhabi, Fujairah and Dubai.

Millenium & Copthorne launches boutique brand hotel The Millenium & Copthorne (M&C) group is launching a new yet-to-be-named boutique brand hotel. The S$100m (£42m) hotel, opening in September next year, will be on Mohamed Sultan Road, close to the Singapore River. The hotel group said the brand was aimed at 21 to 40-year-old tech-savvy and independent business travellers. Stephanie Lee, M&C's director of brand development, said the 368-room hotel would feature loft-style room and rates would be pitched around S$160-S$240 (£67-£100) per night. A key feature of the property will be an outdoor deck "where guests can interact over a glass of wine in a casual environment".
