DoubleTree by Hilton plans to expand across the UK
DoubleTree by Hilton, the fastest growing full service brand from Hilton Worldwide, plans to open in most major cities in the UK.
The brand, which launched in the UK in 2008, currently has 27 properties across the country, with a further six in the pipeline.
So far this year, five DoubleTree properties have opened in the UK and a new-build 146-bedroom hotel in Kingston upon Thames has already been announced for 2016. Earlier this month, Amaris Hospitality revealed it will be rebranding the Glasgow City Hotel to the DoubleTree by Hilton Glasgow Central.
On average the brand opens one hotel a week globally, and one a month in Europe.
Andreas Lackner, area brand management EMEA at Hilton Worldwide, told The Caterer: "DoubleTree is becoming a well-recognised brand, which has potential to grow. There is no reason we cannot get a DoubleTree in the majority of cities in the UK as we have a large customer base here. People may try DoubleTree because of the Hilton name but I believe they come back because of the experience."
He added: "The hotels are allowed to be unique but they all deliver warm, friendly and hospitable service, which the brand has become known for."
Nick Smart, vice president, development, North & West Europe, added: "We're looking at further opportunities for DoubleTree by Hilton in all major cities across the UK, primarily as conversion propositions for existing properties. We're proud to be recognised as a brand that works with the highest quality owners and partners and whilst we are focused on driving growth, are careful to work with those who are committed to ensuring their properties are leaders in the upscale segment within their respective markets.
"We sent a strong message by debuting the brand in the UK with the conversion of the Garden House in Cambridge, and have followed it up with the addition of similarly unique, high profile sites such as Cadbury House in Bristol, Chester's Hoole Hall and multiple London locations."
