Gordon Ramsay reveals Irish restaurant details
Gordon Ramsay has revealed details on his first restaurant in Ireland, which is set to open at the new five-star Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Powerscourt, County Wicklow, in autumn this year. Ramsay's Ritz-Carlton eatery will be a 140-cover restaurant situated on the second floor of the hotel and will include both terrace and private dining facilities. It will feature views over the Sugar Loaf mountain and surrounding countryside and will provide catering for weddings and functions held at the hotel. "It is a pleasure to have the opportunity to open my first restaurant in Ireland, in partnership with The Ritz-Carlton and in such beautiful surroundings," said Ramsay.
Dunkin' Donuts plans Asian expansion
Dunkin' Donuts has outlined its plans to further expand its presence into Asia starting with the launch of its first store in Taipei City, Taiwan. The company recently granted franchise rights to Mercuries & Associates to develop 100 stores in Taiwan over the next 10 years. The Dunkin' Donuts restaurant in Taiwan will offer a complete menu of Dunkin' Donuts coffee, baked goods and iced beverages. The restaurant will also serve items customised to suit local taste preferences such as sweet potato, green apple and pineapple doughnuts, mochi rings, which are cake doughnuts indigenous to the region, as well as iced fruit teas and sandwiches. The company also plans to open Dunkin' Donuts outlets in large Chinese cities.
Rotana Hotels appoints director of sales and marketing
Middle-East hospitality group Rotana Hotels has appointed Maria Walters to the newly created role of director of sales and marketing. The appointment comes as the company plans to strengthen its UK presence through increased marketing. Walters joins Rotana Hotels form online travel agent Opodo, where she spent two and a half years as business development director for the UK, Middle-East, Africa and Asia Pacific. Previously, she held senior positions within international hotel groups including Le Meridien Hotels where she was senior account director for leisure and airline sales for three years.
Hilton signs deal to open Doubletree branded resorts
Hilton Hotels has signed multi-year management agreements with the Caribbean Real Estate Opportunity Fund 2005 for its first Hilton and Doubletree branded resorts in Costa Rica. From December 2007, the group will manage a 202-room property in Guanacaste and a 410-room property in Puntarenas. The Premier Fiesta resort and spa in Guanacaste will be renamed Hilton Papagayo resort and will feature three restaurants, two bars and a casino. The Fiesta resort in Puntarenas will be renamed the Doubletree by Hilton Puntarenas resort and will offer four dining outlets and seven bars. Hilton currently operates a Hampton Inn hotel in Costa Rica.
Oberoi Amarvilas named best five-star hotel in India
The Oberoi Amarvilas hotel in Agra, India has been named best five-star hotel in the country's National Tourism Award. The 102-room property, which is located 600m from the Taj Mahal, was honoured with the award for the second year running. The hotel is spread over nine acres of gardens, terraced lawns, fountains, reflection pools and pavilions.
