Dunne buys another part of Ballsbridge puzzle

Jurys Doyle's Berkeley Court hotel on the Ballsbridge site in Dublin has been sold for €119m (£81m) to property developer Sean Dunne.

Dunne's company, Padholme, is expected to complete the deal for the two-acre site by January 2006.

The move brings to a close months of speculation over the future of the Ballsbridge site, the majority of which was sold to Dunne by Jurys Doyle hotel group for €260m (£178m) last month.

Jurys Doyle, which currently operates the Berkeley Court hotel, is expected to continue running it until 2007.

Dunne has previously expressed his intention to demolish the Ballsbridge site, redeveloping it into a mixed use development with one hotel, offices and residential apartments.
