Edge Hotel School's Wivenhoe House nears completion
Wivenhoe House - the hotel which will incorporate the Edge Hotel School - has moved a step closer to completion, with the keys being handed over to general manager Stephen Mannock.
The 40-bedroom hotel has undergone a £10m refurbishment and will welcome its first students next month, with guests arriving from 1 August.
Mannock said that he was now looking forward "to showing staff and prospective students around the stunning interior".
The Edge Hotel School, the UK's first hotel school based entirely in a fully operational commercial hotel, will provide the opportunity for students to earn a one-year foundation degree or two-year BA Honours from the University of Essex while they learn within a working environment at Wivenhoe House.
Accommodation at the hotel includes 16 bedrooms and suites in the original Grade II-listed, 18th-century house, where the fine-dining Signatures restaurant is located, and 24 bedrooms, alongside the Brasserie, in the contemporary garden wing.
The Edge Hotel School is a partnership between the Edge Foundation, an independent education charity, the University of Essex, and academic partner Kaplan .
