Ennismore deal for Eynsham Hall prompts sale of De Vere Devonport House

De Vere Devonport House in Greenwich, London, has been put up for sale after its owner completed the sale of Eynsham Hall to Ennismore.

The 100-bedroom hotel managed by De Vere is currently owned by Richard Upton, deputy chief executive of U+I, a property development company formed from the 2015 merger of Cathedral Group and Development Securities.

The hotels that form part of the portfolio, which are privately owned by Upton, are in the process of being sold off.

Ennismore completed the acquisition of Eynsham Hall country house hotel in Oxfordshire at the end of last month. It had been on the market for £8.25m. Upton bought the property in 2005 and had invested more than £3m refurbishing the site.

He is now selling Devonport House a Grade II-listed masterpiece by Sir Edwin Cooper through, which was restored by the Cathedral Group in 2011.

Upton said: "Following the successful sale of Eynsham Hall to Ennismore, owner of Hoxton hotels and Gleneagles, we have placed Devonport House in the market seeking an owner who can deliver the next chapter of a business success story."

Devonport House is being marketed by Knight Frank.
