Ettington Park scoops top Hand Picked award
Ettington Park Hotel in Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire, has been named Hand Picked Hotels' Hotel of the Year 2010.
The 48-bedroom, four-AA-red-star hotel was selected as the winner from among the group's 17 country house hotels for achieving excellent customer and employee satisfaction last year.
The Hand Picked Hotels annual awards turned into a double celebration for Ettington Park, with the hotel's assistant financial controller, Ian Yule, being named Employee of the Year for contributing to the group above and beyond his professional obligations.
Also celebrating success was Norton House Hotel & Spa in Edinburgh, named Consistent Hotel of the Year and New Hall Hotel & Spa in Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham, which won the Most Improved Hotel of the Year award.
Jonathan Squire, general manager of Ettington Park (pictured with Hand Picked chairman and chief executive officer Julia Hands), said the award was a confidence boost and motivator for all his staff. "I am hugely proud of the team and the level of commitment, service quality and standards they deliver," he said.
The awards ceremony was held at Crathorne Hall Hotel, near Yarm, North Yorkshire - the winner of the 2009 Hotel of the Year award.
