European hotel development continues apace

The European hotel pipeline comprised 711 hotels totalling 122,301 rooms in October, according to STR Global. Of these, 328 projects are now at the construction stage, representing nearly 60,000 rooms.

Elizabeth Randall, managing director of STR Global, said: "Interestingly, this month, the top four cities with the most developments are London, Moscow, Vienna and Berlin, which reflects partly the top three countries for hotel development: UK, Germany and Russia."

So far in 2010, 215 hotels have opened in Europe, representing 33,226 rooms.
