Prew: "perfect pedigree"
Charles Prew, former managing director of hotel group Hanover International, has left the company to join newly-established Dawnay Shore Hotels (DSH). Prew has been appointed chief executive of Dawnay Day Hotel Management Limited, the management wing of DSH. The appointment is likely to spark rumours that DSH is poised to take over Hanover International, which was thought to be one of several hotel groups the company was eyeing But sources close to DSH said a purchase of Hanover was now unlikely. The source admitted that the group had looked at Hanover and would not rule out an eventual purchase, but said DSH was not currently looking at Hanover "with any gusto". Dawnay Shore Hotels was formed in July this year when it bought the the Paramount chain of four-star hotels for £215m. At the time of the purchase it said it was close to taking over several other similar hotel groups. Since that time speculation about exactly which companies it is targeting have been rife, with Marston Hotels and Hanover leading the way. In his new role Prew will also become chief executive of Paramount Hotels. David Pantin, chairman of DSH, said: "With more than 30 years' industry experience working for high-profile players and a proven track-record of building businesses and turning them around, Charles has the perfect pedigree to take forward and develop the Dawnay Shore Hotels portfolio." James Hawksworth and Liz Howe have been appointed financial director of Paramount and marketing director of Dawnay Day Hotel Management respectively. by Samantha McClary Buy this week's *Caterer* magazine for more industry news and analysis
