Experimental Cocktail Club team to open first UK hotel
The team behind the Experimental Cocktail Club is planning to open its first hotel in the UK, in London's Covent Garden.
Experimental Group was launched in France by Pierre-Charles Cros, Romée de Goriainoff and Olivier Bon just over 10 years ago.
It now runs a mix of bars, restaurants and hotel establishments in New York, Paris, London and Ibiza, including Experimental Beach, Beef Club & Ballroom and Le Grand Pigalle, a boutique hotel in the ninth arrondissement of Paris.
Now the company plans to open the 18-bedroom Henrietta Street hotel at 14-15 Henrietta Street.
The site already has planning approval for use as a hotel with restaurant and bar facilities.
In addition to the 60-cover ground floor restaurant and a 60-cover basement cocktail bar, the company has made the provision for a 60-cover private members' club on the first floor in its licence application, although it denies that it plans to open one at the property.
A precise opening date for the new venture is not yet known but it is thought that it could launch before the end of this year.
Meanwhile, Experimental Group's co-founder Pierre-Charles Cros told The Caterer in an interview last month that the business was also working on a project in Paris that would see the creation of a 50-bedroom hotel and restaurant.
