February a steady month for UK hotels

February was a steady month for UK hotels with revenue per available room (revpar) increasing 2.2% to £2,776 compared with a year ago.

The latest HotStats UK chain hotel market review by Tri Hospitality Consulting, revealed London hotels had the best month with revpar up 4.7% year-on-year to £74.72.

London hotels saw occupancy and room rate increase, up 1.1 percentage points to 78.2% and 3.2% to £95.57 respectively.

Hotels in the provinces saw room rate climb 3.8% to £68.47 but occupancy slid 0.8 percentage points to 67.8%. This meant revpar was less than in the capital at 2.5% and £46.40.

Jonathan Langston, TRI Hospitality Consulting's managing director, said: "February has been a steady month for UK hoteliers, with sales revenues keeping just ahead of inflation."
