Fifteen UK hotels celebrate success in World Travel Awards
Fifteen UK hotels were among nearly 200 properties to be recognised at the European heats of the World Travel Award 2011.
Held at the Cornelia Diamond Golf Resort & Spa in Antalya, Turkey, the winning hotels received awards following a ballot of 183,000 travel professionals in 160 countries.
As well as awards for individual hotels, London was also named as Europe's Leading Destination, while InterContinental Hotels & Resorts was named Europe's Leading Hotel Brand.
The UK winners included the five-star, 90-bedroom Dukes hotel in London, which carried off the title of England's Leading Boutique Hotel. General manager Debrah Dhugga said she and her team were thrilled to win.
"Following various recent developments including the introduction of the new cigar garden, the Perrier-Jouët Champagne Lounge and the brand new restaurant, Thirty Six By Nigel Mendham, Dukes is going from strength to strength and this award really highlights this," she said.
