Firmdale eyes up Mayfair for next hotel location

Catey winner The Firmdale Hotel group is on the hunt for a new location for its next hotel in London's Mayfair.

Firmdale Hotels owner and chairman, Tim Kemp, said: "We are looking for a development site in Mayfair which has luxury hotel potential. The site should be between 50,000 and 100,000sq ft and be freehold or long leasehold."

The group is currently building its first New York property, Crosby Street Hotel in SoHo, as part of its plans to develop its brand in the USA.

The new build will span eight floors and feature 85 bedrooms. It is scheduled to open in March 2009.

Firmdale currently comprises seven central London hotel sites, the most recent of which is the Haymarket Hotel, which was formerly occupied by American Express.
