Flat growth for London hotels in October

London hotels recorded virtually flat growth in occupancy and room rates during October, according to preliminary data from STR Global.

Occupancy decreased by 0.1% to 88%, while average daily rate (ADR) grew by 0.1% to £152.69. There was no change in revenue per available room, which remained at £134.44.

Meanwhile, the supply of hotel rooms increased by 3.2%, which was virtually matched by a growth in demand at 3%.

Elizabeth Winkle, managing director of STR Global, said: "This performance remains in line with what we saw last month, with occupancy levels close to 90% and ADR above £150.00.

"October is not only a strong business month, but many countries in Europe have mid-term school breaks, attracting a lot of tourists during this month".

STR Global will release its full October results in two weeks.
