Four-star hotel set for Hull as part of £42m concert development

A 150-bedroom, four-star hotel is to be built alongside a concert hall and conference centre in Hull, it has been reported.

The £42m project will be built on currently derelict land, and is expected to eventually host stage exhibitions, events, and concerts, reported local newspaper the Hull Daily Mail.

However, reports suggest that this is now unlikely, with councillors instead seeing the development as a "legacy" project that it is hoped will boost the economy long-term.

Councillor Bayes, Hull portfolio holder for visitor destination, told the newspaper: "A high-class conference and events facility is something a city the size of Hull has long needed. We believe the time is right to show that Hull has the confidence to deliver on something like this."

He added that the development would allow the city to attract significant events that could help develop a big economic impact.
