George Goring wins AA's Lifetime Achievement Award

Hotelier George Goring has received the Lifetime Achievement accolade at this year's AA Hospitality Awards 2010.

Goring, who was at the helm of London's Goring for 43 years, was recognised for his "pursuit of perfection" by the AA at an awards dinner prepared by Marcus Wareing at the capital's Hilton on Park Lane hotel tonight.

Scotland's Michelin-starred Martin Wishart was recipient of the Chefs' Chef of the Year title, while Luckham Park hotel in Colerne, Whitshire was named as the association's Hotel of the Year in England.

Hotel Group of the Year went to US company Marriott, which has spent £120m refurbishing its 38 hotels in the UK.

AA Restaurant of the Year (England) went to The Harrow at Little Bedwyn in Marlbrough, Wiltshire, which is owned by Sue and Roger Jones, while Scotland's Peat Inn in Fife was named as the country's best.

AA hotel services group area manager Giovanna Grossi said: "Every year the judging gets harder and harder, and this year is no exception. The outstanding achievements of the winning establishments have shone, and their dedication and commitment to providing quality and excellence within the hospitality industry is exemplary."
