George Westwell of Cheval Residences scoops top ASAP award
A former hotel operator who has spent the past 12 years in the serviced apartment sector has carried off the top accolade in the Association of Serviced Apartment Providers (ASAP) 2016 Industry Awards.
George Westwell, director of Cheval Residences, was presented with the Outstanding Individual Award at the culmination of ASAP's gala dinner, held at the Museum of London on Wednesday evening.
He joined the hotel industry in 1972 as a trainee manager with Crest Hotels, taking up his first general manager role at the group's South Mimms property.
After 15 years with the company Westwell joined the Holiday Inn Mayfair as general manager, before moving to the same position at the London Metropole, under successive owners including Metrople Hotels, Stakis and Hilton.
The move to Cheval Residences and serviced apartments came about in 2004, since when the company has grown to eight sites in London.
James Foice, chief executive of the ASAP, said that there had been a record number of entries this year for the awards, which are now in their fourth year.
