Gleneagles officially launches arena for 2,250 guests

The Gleneagles five-red-AA-star, 232-bedroom Gleneagles hotel has unveiled its new 2,500 sq m event space and indoor tennis centre.

Transformed from one of the hotel's equestrian venues, the £750,000 Gleneagles Arena offers a versatile events space for conferences, product launches and team-building activities. It will also accommodate four indoor tennis courts.

The space, which has capacity for up to 2,250 guests, will complement the hotel's existing 15 function rooms.

Bernard Murphy, managing director of Gleneagles, said he hopes the new development will help the hotel build on the success of last year's Ryder Cup.

"The Arena has fantastic potential as a venue for large-scale events. We've already had a lot of interest from event planners for everything from corporate celebrations, to exhibitions, to concerts. It's such a large space that it provides a great blank canvas for organisers to create something really ambitious.

"On the tennis side of things, we already have some exciting events planned, and we hope that we'll attract more interest from corporate groups who wish to host their own tournaments and exhibition matches in the Arena"

Gleneagles, set within a 850-acre estate, is currently being sold by its owner Diageo, for around £200m.
