Gold bath worth nearly £0.5m stolen from Japanese hotel
A bath made of gold worth nearly $1m (£0.5m) has been stolen from a Japanese hotel, it has been revealed today.
The bath was stolen from the tenth floor of the Kominato Hotel Mikazuki in Kamogawa, south of Tokyo, an official admitted yesterday.
The round tub, which was made of 18 karat gold and weighted 80kgs, was worth around $987,000 (£498,700).
It had been a main feature of the hotel's shared bathroom and was only available to guests for a few hours a day for ‘security reasons'.
Police said they had no witness information or video camera evidence so it seems the thieves made a clean getaway….
