Good prospects for small groups

The future looks rosy for the growth of smaller hotel groups in the UK. That was the view of Andrew Little, hospitality and leisure partner at law firm Berwin Leighton Paisner (BLP), talking at the Hotel Financing Conference last week.

Speaking at the BLP-organised event, Little said that trends showed a continuing growth among small hotel groups such as Malmaison, Arora, Kew Green and Dawnay Shore.

He added that the number of sale-and-management-back deals was also set to increase, as was the amount of franchising, with small and medium-sized companies taking advantage of being part of big brand names.

Little also said that aparthotels in the UK were showing a similar resurgence.
