Gordon Ramsay to launch two restaurants in Qatar

Gordon Ramsay is set to expand to the Middle East, with the launch of two new restaurants at the St Regis hotel in Doha, Qatar.

The celebrity chef will launch Gordon Ramsay Doha and Opal by Gordon Ramsay in May. The openings will mark Ramsay's return to the Middle East where he previously operated Verre at the Hilton Dubai Creek hotel for more than 10 years.

Both restaurants will be headed up by Gilles Bosquet, who previously worked for Gordon Ramsay Holdings at the Connaught hotel in London. He also spent time as sous chef at the two-Michelin-starred La Pyramide in Paris and ran his own Michelin-starred restaurant in the French countryside.

Gordon Ramsay Doha will open on 1 May offering a fine dining experience modelled on Ramsay's flagship restaurant on London's Royal Hospital Road. Signature dishes will include Ramsay classics including ravioli of lobster, shellfish and salmon, as well as discover Bosquet's signature cannelloni of wild mushrooms with black truffle emulsion.

Designed by Rockwell Group Europe, the restaurant will be a modern take on the features of a classical English manor, featuring an indoor conservatory furnished with sofas and chairs.

Meanwhile Opal by Gordon Ramsay Doha, which will open on 15 May, will serve western classics in a relaxed bistro-style environment, with typical dishes including crispy chicken wings, freshly-diced fish ceviche, steaks and a pizza menu. It will offer both indoor and outdoor seating with views of the Arabian Gulf.

Commenting on the new restaurant launches, Tareq Derbas, general manager at The St Regis Doha, said: "We are delighted to partner with the Gordon Ramsay Group to offer guests and local residents two incredible dining options. A great deal of effort and detail has been put into perfecting these culinary experience for both casual diners and gourmet enthusiasts, and we are confident that these restaurants will elevate Doha's fast-growing dining scene to the next level."

The St Regis Doha includes 10 restaurants and bars including the first Jazz at Lincoln Center outside the USA.
