Great Eastern Street hotel on target

Seven Capital's Great Eastern Street hotel project in London is due for completion next year.

The 125-bedroom boutique hotel will be operated by Seven Capital's sister company, StayWell Hospitality Group, under the Park Regis brand. The designer is 5Plus Architects.

The hotel will be part of a £30m 70,000 sq ft mixed use scheme in the South Shoreditch Conservation Area. The standalone site will use part of the original facade of a late Victorian warehouse. It will also incorporate the restoration of the Grade II-listed Griffin pub, with its upper levels being converted to residential use.

Hackney Borough Council gave the project planning permission in May 2012.

The site at 61-67 Great Eastern Street has lain derelict for more than a decade with several previous development plans by other developers rejected.
