Great Hotels Organisation signs up 35 new members
Luxury sales and marketing consortium Great Hotels Organisation (GHO) has added 35 independent properties from around the world to its three portfolios.
From the 263 applications for membership, 17 hotels have been selected to join the collection of luxury Great Hotels of the World, 15 have been added to Special Hotels of the World - a selection of properties which aim to offer exceptional value and services, and three have joined Metro Hotels - a group of mid-range, city-centre corporate hotels.
Two UK hotels are amongst the new recruits. St James's Hotel & Club, London, and Cotswold House, Chipping Campden, Gloucestershire, have both been selected to join Great Hotels of the World.
"The global recession has had a big impact on the travel industry. However, we're pleased to report that growth has remained strong over the past year and we intend for it to continue throughout this year," said Carly Gotz, group director of sales and marketing of the London-based organisation.
"The support of a globally recognised sales and marketing organisation such as GHO is vital for independent hotels especially in times of economic uncertainly and we are focused on driving new business to our member hotels.
"This year we will add properties in developing regions where travellers' money goes further and will look at increasing membership of corporate city-centre hotels to our recently launched Metro Hotels brand."
GHO's activities include sales and marketing activities, tradeshow representation, GDS connectivity, improvement to the structure and quality of meeting and incentive offerings, and affinity marketing partnerships.
Membership of the alliances is by invitation only with new members needing to meet strict quality criteria before being accepted by GHO's quality assessment committee.
