Greg Broad becomes GM at Von Essen's Mount Somerset
Luxury hotel operator Von Essen has appointed Greg Broad as general manager of its Mount Somerset hotel, near Taunton in Somerset.
Broad joins the hotel from the position of deputy general manager at the five-star Relais & Chateaux Royal Crescent hotel in Bath and has worked for Von Essen hotels for more than nine years.
He replaces previous general manager Barbara Loadwick, who has now retired, while The Royal Crescent hotel has yet to find a replacement to take over his previous role.
Broad said he was "thrilled and excited" about his new position.
"I am looking forward to further maintaining the Mount Somerset hotel's reputation as one of the most prestigious country house hotels in the South West as well as strategically driving the business forward," he said.
This week Von Essen reported profits of more than £10m for the year 2008 in its fifth annual report.
Turnover also increased 20% from £56.8m in 2007 to over £70.6m in 2008. Gross profit jumped 24% to £60.678m, while net profit for the year rose from £6.123m to £10.809m in 2008.
