Guoman and Thistle hotels announce two top appointments
Sanjay Nijhawan has been promoted to the newly-created role of chief operating officer international at Guoman Hotels Management to drive the brand's development in Asia.
It will be the first time the Guoman brand has opened outside of the UK market. Shanghai will be the first property to open, followed by two planned ventures in China.
Based in Singapore, Nijhawan will be supported by director of operations Philip Chambers, who for the last six months has been working to establish an operation in Shanghai, ahead of the opening.
"The plan is to quickly have further sites in the pipeline; locations which will match our ambitions, from India to China and south to Singapore. These are enormous growth areas and regions which will undergo dramatic economic growth over the next 20 years."
In the UK, Heiko Figge has been appointed to the role of managing director, Guoman and Thistle with responsibility for all hotel operations within the UK.
Based in London, Figge will be responsible for overseeing hotel operations across both the Guoman Hotels and Thistle brands, growing the business whilst continuing to develop the distinction between them.
Both brands will benefit from a significant investment programme over the next two years whilst the company continues to explore further opportunities to grow their portfolio within the UK market.
