Guy Parsons named EasyHotel chief executive
Former Travelodge boss Guy Parsons has been named chief executive of budget brand easyHotel.
He will take on the role from Simon Champion, who has been in the role since 2013 and taken the business from family owned to AIM listed.
Parsons stepped down as chief executive of Travelodge in 2012 to make way for Grant Hearn's return to the role after a difficult period in which the group came close to administration.
Prior to Travelodge, Parsons was managing director of TGI Friday's.
Parsons said: "I am delighted to be joining the business as chief executive. EasyHotel has a strong brand and clear strategy and I am looking forward to leading the company as it grows and delivers for its customers, its people, its franchise partners and its shareholders."
EasyHotel chairman Jonathan Lane added: "As an experienced chief executive in the hotel industry, he is ideally suited to advance the easyHotel brand. Guy's hotel, marketing and development skills will be a great addition to the senior management team at easyHotel."
Outgoing chief executive Champion said the business had solid foundations for growth based on sound franchises and a growing freehold portfolio. "I believe the business is in good shape, and it is now time for me to step aside to pursue other interests. I wish the business well for the future," he said.
