G&V Royal Mile hotel announces redesign
G&V Royal Mile hotel in Edinburgh, previously Hotel Missoni, has announced it will be redesigning its interior just six years after opening in 2009.
The five-star property will see the redesign of 136 rooms, as well as a complete overhaul of the bar and lobby areas.
Designs are expected to evoke modern Scotland, drawing on local talent and textiles, with the programme of work being completed in phases. Some rooms will be ready by summer 2015 and the full redesign is anticipated for completion at the end of the year.
Carina Svensen, hotel manager at G&V Royal Mile hotel, said: "Our hotel has always been distinctive and modern design still absolutely remains at our core. This is a natural evolution for us and we're truly excited to be able to transform some of our rooms to reflect luxury living and inject a little local character into the interiors. The new design will reflect a celebration of modern Scotland, drawing on the incredible resources and talent we have on our doorstep here in Edinburgh."
Rose Anderson vice president, branding, Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group added: "As we celebrate the hotel's six-year anniversary, our investment in the hotel and the city signals an incredibly exciting chapter. In today's travel world, evolution is key and true luxury demands a remarkable hotel. We believe that our investment will allow G&V to flourish, lead the way and retain its quality and individuality - as well as a deep-felt pride in the local area, environment and people."
The hotel is part of Carlson Rezidor's the Quorvus Collection. It was previously branded as Missoni but the name was dropped following an announcement by Carlson Rezidor last year that it had ended its licensing agreement with the Italian fashion house.
The hotel's name, which is an abbreviation of George & Victoria, is intended as a nod to the area's royal heritage, located in the centre of Edinburgh at the corner of George IV Bridge, Victoria Street and the Royal Mile.
