Hampton by Hilton to launch in Edinburgh
A 228-bedroom Hampton by Hilton hotel is to be developed in Edinburgh following the sale of a site by the Duke of Westminster's Grosvenor Group.
The site in Fountainbridge, a former industrial area close to the city centre, has been sold to Queensgate Hotels. It has existing planning consent for the property, which is due to open in summer 2017.
The hotel will form part of Grosvenor's Springside mixed-use development of 400 homes, serviced apartments and two student residences.
Robin Blacklock, planning and development director Scotland for Grosvenor Britain & Ireland, part of the Grosvenor Group, said: "This marks another milestone in the transformation of Fountainbridge.
"The hotel will benefit from close proximity to all the amenities of the central city and will bring further jobs and vibrancy to the area."
Grosvenor was advised by Savills.
Hampton by Hilton currently has 16 hotels operating in the UK and Ireland, with a further 17 under development.
