Hansom lands top Sharrow Bay post

Nick Hansom, general manager at the Vineyard hotel in Stockcross, near Newbury, is taking up the same post at the Sharrow Bay hotel on Lake Ullswater. The 27-room hotel in the Lake District became part of the 17-strong Von Essen group of hotels this year, but Hansom stressed it would continue to run as a stand-alone

property. Meanwhile, Andrew Pratt, the hotel's outgoing general manager, has joined chef-proprietor Simon Gueller at the reinvigorated Box Tree restaurant in Ilkely, West Yorkshire. Pratt, the 1994 Young Waiter of the Year, will join the 35-seat former Michelin-starred property as restaurant manager. He has also worked at the Angel Inn, Hetton, and the Devonshire Arms hotel in Bolton Abbey, both in North Yorkshire.
