Harbour Hotels to expand into Brighton
Harbour Hotels, the collection of five coastal properties in Dorset, Devon and Cornwall, is moving east following the acquisition of a hotel in Brighton.
Located on the seafront, the 77-bedroom Brighton Harbour Hotel & Spa will launch next year following a major refurbishment of the yet to be revealed property, with the addition of a spa, rooftop pool and the group's branded Jetty restaurant.
Mike Warren, managing director of Harbour Hotels, said: "We are very excited to be taking the Harbour Hotels brand to Brighton; it's one of the UK's most vibrant hotel and tourism markets and a key strategic location from our perspective. With a prime position on the seafront, we plan to maximise on this lively coastal setting with a full refurbishment programme."
Contracts have been signed for the Brighton property and further details will be announced on completion of the deal.
The five existing Harbour Hotels, owned by property investor Nicolas James Group, include Christchurch Harbour hotel and the Kings hotel, both in Christchurch, Dorset; St Ives Harbour hotel in Cornwall; Salcombe Harbour hotel and the Sidmouth Harbour hotel, both in Devon. The company also owns and operates two wedding venues: Northbrook Park in Farnham, Surrey; and Froyle Park in Alton, Hampshire.
Following the opening of the Brighton property, the seventh hotel within the group will be the £25m Southampton Harbour Hotel & Spa, which is set to launch in June 2017. Shaped like a luxury yacht, it will be the first new build property for the company.
