Hilton and Premier Inn top guest poll on advert recall and brand awareness

Hilton and Premier Inn have topped the British Hotel Guest Survey on nearly all measures, including advertising and brand awareness.

The newly-quarterly survey, from insight firm BDRC Continental, also showed that the two chains are also extremely close when it comes to popularity among business travellers, although rival brand Travelodge still scooped the top spot on business and leisure traveller usage.

When it comes to business travellers, Hilton also saw less of a lead over competitors, with the gap between the higher-end chain and other competing brands narrowing significantly - most noticeably in relation to Premier Inn, which gained points where Hilton lost.

When it comes to business travellers, Premier Inn was used by almost one third of those surveyed during the past quarter, while 27% used Holiday Inn and 24% used Hilton. Among leisure travellers, budget brands Travelodge, Premier Inn and Holiday Inn scooped the top three spots.

Based on nationally representative samples of 2,000 British business and leisure hotel guests who have stayed in the hotels at some point over the past 12 months, the BDRC Continental British Hotel Guest Survey has been conducted on an annual basis every year since 1982.
